Privacy Policy

The short version: there are no user accounts, no email capture, and no advertising pixels. The only personal data we ever store is what you deliberately type into a product review. Everything else is explained below in plain English.
Who we are
SolarControllerFinder (solarcontrollerfinder.com) is an independent DIY-solar buying guide operated by SaintOne Solutions, run by Spencer Stone. Reach us at spencerdstone@gmail.com.
What we don't collect
- No accounts or logins. You can use the compatibility builder, guides, and catalog without signing up or giving us anything.
- No advertising or remarketing pixels. We don't run Meta Pixel, Google Ads tags, or cross-site trackers.
- The builder runs on data you enter transiently. The panels, battery, and controller selections you plug into the compatibility tool are used to compute your result and are not tied to an identity.
The one thing we do store: product reviews
If you choose to submit a product review, we store what you provide: a display name (use whatever you like — it doesn't have to be your real name), your star rating, review text, optional pros/cons, your installer context (e.g. "DIY van," "licensed electrician"), and optional install details like setup type and how long you've run the system. We do not ask for or store your email address. Reviews are held for moderation and only published after approval. Published reviews are public by design — don't put anything private in them.
This data is stored with our backend provider, Supabase, which hosts the database on our behalf. Want a review removed? Email us with the display name and product and we'll take it down.
Server logs and hosting
Our hosting and backend providers automatically log standard request data such as IP address and browser type for security and reliability, as essentially all web infrastructure does. We don't use these logs to build profiles or to track you across other sites.
Affiliate links and outbound merchants
When you click a buy button, you leave our site for a merchant such as Amazon, Renogy, or Signature Solar. Some of those are affiliate links routed through programs like Amazon Associates and the Impact network (see our affiliate disclosure). Once you're on a merchant's site, their privacy policy governs what they collect. Affiliate programs may set their own cookies to attribute a referral; that's how we get credited, and it costs you nothing.
Cookies
We don't set our own advertising or tracking cookies. The affiliate networks linked above may set a referral cookie when you click through to a merchant.
Children's privacy
The site is intended for a general adult audience interested in solar installation and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from children.
Your rights
We hold almost no personal data — only reviews you submit. If you're a California (CCPA/CPRA), EU, or UK resident and want to access or delete a review you posted, email us with enough detail to find it and we'll handle it. We don't sell personal information; we have essentially none to sell.
Changes
If our practices change, we'll update this page and the date above. Material changes will be described plainly.
